A Brilliant Match by Jennie Goutet

A Brilliant Match by Jennie Goutet is the first in The Earl’s Sisters series and it is a true delight!  Lady Dorothea Rowlandson is the first daughter of the late earl.  She is just launching into society due to the timing of his death.  She is determined to form an advantageous match to help her family.  Miles Shaw is a charming young man with an estate that is falling apart.  He needs to marry well to help the estate.  But he wants a love match like his parents.  What are they both to do?

Miles is a great hero who pursues Dorothea so charmingly.  A hero who dances with grace is truly sigh worthy!  As we learn his back story you can not help, but love him even more!   Dorothea’s struggles with herself played out so well on the pages of the story.  The alternating POV’s with Miles and Dorothea had me engaged and hoping for their match!   The secondary characters added depth and interest to the story.  I found myself wrapped up and invested in the London Season and learned more about Regency times through the author’s fabulous writing.

This story was a pure delight!  I loved the banter, romance, and watching each character change and grow.  I am so thrilled it is the first of what will prove to be a wonderful series!  I highly recommend A Brilliant Match by Jennie Goutet!

I was given a complimentary copy and not required to write a positive review.

A Whimsical Notion by Jennie Goutet

A Whimsical Notion by Jennie Goutet is a delightful Regency read. It is the first book in the Daughters of the Gentry series. Main character, Honoraria, is a sweet soul with a gift for helping others heal. She lives with her parents next to Phillip’s estate. Phillip has been trying to rebuild his earnings after the damage his father had done to the estate and surrounding countryside which included alienating Honoria’s father.

This was a sweet Regency read that took place in the country among the landed gentry. The author has a wonderful way of setting the scene and giving you details that allow you to come away with a great understanding of the time period. I enjoyed attending a Regency ball, learning how to work effectively with a housekeeper, and visiting with neighbors. There were many secondary characters who I enjoyed meeting, and I imagine will be a part of future stories. I greatly enjoyed my time in Lincolnshire.

The idyllic setting, endearing characters, and the lovely explanations of the time period by the author made this a wonderful Regency read. I felt immersed in the time period and can not wait for book two to learn what happens next. I highly recommend A Whimsical Notion.

A Yorkshire Carol by Jennie Goutet

A Yorkshire Carol by Jennie Goutet is a sweet Regency story that takes place at a house party in Yorkshire at Christmas time.

A Yorkshire Carol by Jennie Goutet is a delight!  Juliana and Wilhelm have grown up together in Yorkshire, but currently Juliana is living in London and has moved beyond her hometown. She visits Yorkshire for a Christmas house party.  There is nothing quite like a Regency Christmas house party that is filled with games, a yule log, Christmas carols, wonderful food, and a friends to lovers trope.

This was a sweet story that put me in the Christmas spirit!  It was fun to learn some Yorkshire slang, celebrate Christmas with friends, and read a Regency novel.  I recommend this adorable Christmas story.

I was given a copy by the publisher  and not required to write a positive review.

Philippa Holds Court by Jennie Goutet

Philippa Holds Court by Jennie Goutet is the second book in the Clavering Chronicles, and is a stand alone Regency novel.   Philippa, our heroine, is a vibrant person whose intellect and skills I found endearing.  Our hero, Jack, juggles so much in his life that love has yet to come into the picture. I wanted to jump in the story and meet them both.

This was a fascinating Regency story as it involved the attempt at repealing the corn laws in 1819, and  gave you a glimpse into the workings of the British Parliament.  Jennie Goutet research provided an excellent backdrop for a fantastic story.

Philippa Holds Court has wonderful romance, personable characters, interesting backstory, and is a true joy to read!  As a lover of all things Regency I am thrilled to add Philippa Holds Court to my Regency Library.   I highly recommend it.

His Disinclinced Bride by Jennie Goutet

"Kitty’s new life, as wife to a viscount in a strange estate, in a strange village, had not had a promising beginning. "

His Disinclined Bride by Jennie Goutet is a stand alone Regency romance in the Season of Change Series.  The story begins when Kitty’s brother, a successful businessman, matches her with Phineas Stropford, Lord Hayworth, without telling her for his own gain and Lord Hayworth’s.  The story follows Phineas and Kitty’s wedding and new life.  We find out how they navigate an array of challenging relatives, neighbors, new friends, servants, and their relationship with each other. It is a delightful marriage of convenience story with a satisfying ending.

Jennie Goutet is a new to me author, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read her new book His Disinclined Bride.  It was everything a Regency romance story should be and more!    I enjoyed the characters, the setting,  and Kitty and Phineas’ love story.  After reading His Disinclined Bride I  will now search out Ms. Goutet’s other novels as I am now a fan.  I would highly recommend His Disinclined Bride to all who love clean Regency romances.

I received an advance reader copy from the author and was not required to write a favorable review.    All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
