Not Exactly Mr. Darcy is the first book in the Silver Teapot series by Carolyn Miller.  Olivia Bennett’s life in Australia implodes when her teaching contract is not renewed.  She is nominated by her family to help care for her grandmother after surgery in her small English Village.  Olivia is intrigued by Harbury Hall which was used as Pemberly in filming of Pride and Prejudice especially the fountain.  Her grandmother makes a way for Olivia to help bring Harbury Hall back to life for visitors.  Her only issue is with the gardener, Liam Browne.  

What a delightful novel to get lost in with many lovely Jane Austen connections!  Olivia and Liam were endearing characters with wonderful chemistry, good banter, and sweet romance.  They both grew and matured in the story making them so loveable.  I adored their English village and all the villagers. The faith thread was natural, well written, and naturally woven into the story.  I especially enjoyed visiting Harbury Hall and the author did an amazing job helping me feel like I was walking the grounds and touring the house.  I enjoyed getting to know Olivia’s family and I look forward connecting more with her sisters in future books in the series.  

Not Exactly Mr. Darcy By Carolyn Miller is a wonderful book with sweet romance, engaging characters, and beautiful redemptive themes.  The book is immersive with the author’s writing style.  I highly recommend Not Exactly Mr. Darcy by Carolyn Miller.    A 2025 highlight for me.

Faking the Shot by Carolyn Miller

Faking the Shot by Carolyn Miller is book number four in her Northwest Ice series, but is a stand alone novel.. Ainsley Beckett is well known for her role as a very good school teacher on a western historical show. She is all sweetness and also known as someone who does not date anyone more than once or twice. Zac Parotti is the star of the Vancouver team who led them to a Stanley Cup. Zac is a new believer and is intrigued when he meets Ainsley at a fundraiser. Ainsley wonders if fake dating would help them both, but real feelings may get in the way.

I found myself deeply drawn to this story. Ainsley and Zac’s friendship and relationship were so engaging .I enjoyed the journey of getting to know them as the author uncovered the layers in each of their lives. The story had great romance and the fake dating was realistically done. It was fun to visit with past characters from the others books in the series. I appreciated the deeper topics discussed in the story, and how well they were handled by author. This story shares topics that are often overlooked. 

It is always a pleasure to visit the world of hockey with Carolyn Miller. The story had engaging characters, great romance, and well written hard hitting topics. I highly recommend Faking the Shot by Carolyn Miller.

 The Lost Daughter's Irishman by Carolyn Miller is a delightful story that will brighten your day. It is a standalone book that is part of the collection Our House on Sycamore Street.    Kara Browne is working three jobs and hiding out in Eden Cove after her life fell apart.  She is trying to keep it all together and is not interested in meeting anyone new.  Colin Fairall has come to town to see about acquiring the local hotel.  He is intrigued by Kara Browne and tries to break through her walls.

This was a such a great story.  It was a pleasure to get to know Kara and Colin.  I was rooting for them and watching them both grow and change.  I enjoyed their relationship, banter and love of 80’s songs.   The setting of Eden Cove, a small town in England, was enchanting, and I enjoyed making friends with the people of Eden Cove.  The author did a great job taking the heavy topic of loss and weaving together a beautiful story with humorous and touching parts.

The Lost Daughter’s Irishman is a wonderful contemporary romance that checked all the boxes for me with great banter, sweet romance and wonderful characters.  I highly recommend!

Muskoka Holiday Morsels by Carolyn Miller consists of 12 short stories that start with Canadian Thanksgiving and continue through New Year’s. Each sweet story takes place in Muskoka, Canada and we visit with characters from the other novels in the author’s Muskoka Romance Series.

I absolutely adored this book. Each chapter is a separate story that ties into the whole of the book. It was fun to visit with secondary characters from the other stories and have an extended epilogue with other old friends (characters) from other books in the series. I felt like I was sitting at a table in The Coffee Blend catching up with old friends. I loved catching up with everyone and extending my stay.

Muskoka Holiday Morsels is the perfect book to enjoy with a holiday drink cuddled under a blanket. It is always a pleasure to visit with everyone in Muskoka. I highly recommend Muskoka Holiday Morsels by Carolyn Miller.

Muskoka Christmas by Carolyn Miller

Muskoka Christmas by Carolyn Miller is a delightful read that I highly enjoyed. Main character, Staci, is an author who has come to Muskoka to see her Grandmother and finish her current story. James Wells was a missionary doctor on furlough and working at the local hospital.

I was rooting for Staci and James from the beginning as they were both people I wanted to get to know. Walking with Staci as she wrote her book and being able to see into her writing process was fantastic. James’ compassionate heart and interactions with his family made him a sigh worthy hero. I loved watching them become friends, their witty banter, and fall in love. The secondary character completed the story and helped me to feel a part of the town. Muskoka has a wonderful small town feel and was even more fun to visit during the Christmas season.

Muskoka Christmas is a wonderful read with wonderful characters, sweet romance, and great banter between the main characters. The themes of contentment with who you are, redemption from your past mistakes, and seeing your worth resonated with me. I highly recommend Muskoka Christmas.

Book Review: Muskoka Shores by Carolyn Miller is a stand alone novel set in Muskoka, Canada. Main character, Serena, has all of those qualities that you really want in a good friend and works at the Muskoka Shores Resort. Joel has just come to town to be an associate pastor at her church with his sister who is single and expecting. Each of them have heavy burdens they are bearing alone. I loved walking with them through their journey to understanding each other and themselves.

The beautiful scenery and wonderful church family draws you in and invites you to stay in Muskoka. This story is filled with great banter, loveable characters and valuable life lessons. I think you will enjoy it too, and I recommend it.

Big Apple Atonement by Carolyn Miller

❓QOTD? Have you been to New York City? I have not. I have family in Western New York and have visited. My dream is to visit NYC and see a show.

Review: Big Apple Atonement by Carolyn Miller is the 5th in her Original Six Hockey series. The story is a stand alone, but we do hear about characters from other stories. Hockey player TJ Woensky causes problems by hurting other players, losing his temper, and having a bad attitude. Margarita (Emma) Moritello, Saint Margarita, runs a children’s home.  She is seen as a saint, but doesn’t feel that way.  

There is nothing like a wonderful redemption story.  I love a story where someone changes their life and becomes a better version of themselves. It is a good reminder to me that God offers incredible grace to all of us.  The characters in our story were interesting, thoughtful, and I enjoyed watching them work through their issues.  Fantastic secondary characters gave the story depth and made me want to visit them for Thanksgiving!  

I am becoming more of a hockey fan as I read this series, but know that you do not have to be one  to enjoy the story.  The themes of redemption, giving away your life, and extravagant grace spoke to my heart. The author has the gift of telling a story that speaks truth in a non-preachy way.  I highly recommend it.

Reclaiming Hope by Carolyn Miller

Reclaiming Hope by Carolyn Miller is a part of the Hooper Island series, but is a stand alone novel.  Main character Callie Steele is an incredibly organized list maker who thinks love has passed her by. Kai Brody is a world famous surfer whose close calls and injuries have made him reevaluate his life and think about his future.  It was wonderful to see them  become friends and begin to wonder if falling in love with your opposite might make your world more interesting to be in. 
  
I loved the Island setting and how the elements of faith were honest and thoughtful throughout this story.  The dialogue and alternating POV  between Callie and Kai added depth to the story.   I enjoyed getting to know their very different personalities and seeing them both work together as a couple.   

The story is a delight with its island setting, thoughtful characters, and is a reminder that hope is always there.  I recommend Reclaiming Hope! Available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited

Dusk's Darkest Shore by Carolyn Miller

Dusk’s Darkest Shore is a pure Regency delight set in the Lake District in England.  Carolyn Miller gives you all the feels in this amazing love story. I was drawn in from the beginning and did not want the story to end. 

I felt so connected to main characters Mary Bloomfield and Adam Edgerton.  Carolyn Miller writes beautiful and tender scenes between Mary and Adam as we follow their journey from acquaintances to two people who are deeply in love. Her secondary characters added to the story and I enjoyed watching their transformation.  She effortlessly weaves in God’s sovereignty and explores why every prayer is not answered in the story.  

Dusk’s Darkest Shore is a delightfully written Regency story with authentic characters, some mystery, and a timeless love story.  Regency readers will love the attention to detail of the times and will be looking forward to the next two books in the series.  I highly recommend it.

You have to share about a romance that sweeps you away, brings you joy, and leaves you with hope for the future. Restoring Fairhaven by Carolyn Miller is one of those stories. The main character, Samantha Green, has just taken over her father’s gardening business while he is recovering from heart issues. Our hero, Max Fairhaven is a writer who is walking through a dark time and has almost given up on ever being happy again. Restoring Fairhaven is their restoration story.

This is the sixth book in the Independent Island Series and takes place on Merriweather Island. Carolyn Miller does a wonderful job painting a picture of the setting on beautiful Merriweather Island. This book spoke to me spiritually with Ms. Miller’s gardening analogies.

Joy to the World A Regency Christmas Collection by Carolyn Miller, Amanda Barratt and Erica Vetsch

Joy to the World is a Regency Christmas Novella collection by Carolyn Miller who wrote “Heaven and Nature Sing” ; Amanda Barratt who penned  Far as the Curse is Found; and Erica Vetsch who authored Wonders of His Love center around people of faith who find love during  the Christmas season in Regency England.   I am a big fan of all three authors and I was not disappointed in their stories.

 Carolyn’s Miller’ Heaven and Nature Sing is a sweet story with a bit of a Persuasion theme.  Carolyn has the unique ability to paint a picture of Regency England with people of faith.  Her characters Edith and George will steal your heart and draw you into their story. I loved developing a better understanding of Regency Christmas traditions, and left very satisfied with Ms. Miller’s story.    

Amanda Barrett’s Far as the Curse is Found is a nice variation on the usual Regency romance themes.  Jenny and Dwight are two wounded souls who walk in faith and find a deeper understanding of God’s love and their love with each other.  I was reminded of God’s providence and how He makes beauty from ashes after reading Ms. Barrett’s story.  

Erica Vetch’s Wonder’s of His Love tells us the story of Widow Lady Cilla Haverly and Scottish artist Hamish Sinclair.  Both come from very different worlds, but as their love develops we see they form a beautiful piece of artwork when together.  I loved the character of Cilla and enjoyed watching her transform into the women she was meant to be.  An incredibly sweet Christmas story. 

I am now in the Christmas spirit and so glad that I was able to read Joy to the World.  I highly recommend the book and hope you will make it a part of your holiday reading.  It will fill you with joy!
