Sabotaged Mission by Tina Radcliffe

QOTD: Do you have railroad tracks near you.🚝 We have some a few miles away. I went out to the tracks to balance Sabotaged Mission on the tracks. I was thrilled it stood up for the picture.

Later, I noticed that a blue vehicle must have passed while I was taking the picture matching the blue van in the book. My timing was very good. πŸš™

I was so thrilled to get to read Tina Radcliffe’s fantastic new book Sabotaged Mission. The story had mystery, humor, action, romance, and a cute dog to boot! As the saying goes “It was all that and a bag of chips.” The story centers around CIA operative “Mac” Mackenzie Sharp and her old flame Gabe Denton. They are on the run trying to figure out who is trying to kill Mac, solve the mystery of her missing partner, and see how a mission gone wrong fits into the picture.

Mac and Gabe are a great team and I was rooting for them from chapter one. They have great chemistry and wonderful dialogue together. It was a joy to read and follow their adventure. I found myself staying up late to see what happened next.

Sabotaged Mission by Tina Radcliffe has wonderful characters, a great plot that kept me guessing, and a nice blend of action and romance. This quick read is the perfect summer story that I highly recommend!

Sabotaged Mission publishes July 26 ,2022.  Pre-order today!

Counterfeit by Kirstin Chen

Counterfeit by Kirstin Chen was thoroughly entertaining. Our story starts with Ava telling a detective how she was coerced into helping Winnie, her college roommate, in an illegal designer handbag scheme. Winnie and Ava were fascinating characters and I enjoyed sharing their experiences, escapades and world travels.

The story takes the reader through high end stores, factories in China, and illegal dealings across international borders. I was engrossed in this book and enjoyed following along as I tried to figure out what really was happening.

This was a quick, interesting read that was gratifying and diverting. I recommend Counterfeit.

The Sweet Life by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Do you have a favorite local ice cream shop?  When I was just in Cambridge, MA for my son’s graduation we visited Toscanini's.  It has been called “The World’s Best Ice Cream” by the New York Times.

Review: In The Sweet Life by Suzanne Fisher Woods Dawn Dixon takes her mom, Marnie, on her honeymoon after her fiancΓ© dumps her. They spend the week in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Marnie decides to buy a historical building and open an ice cream shop.  Their  adventure begins.

The author did an amazing job connecting me to both Dawn and Marnie with their alternating POV’s.  It was a pleasure to watch them both grow, connect and learn to appreciate the other.  I found myself wrapped up in their building renovation, how to make ice cream, and in the town of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

The author begins each chapter with a quote about ice cream and I noticed  myself actively searching out ice cream in my home, in my neighborhood, and on vacation after reading.  The Sweet Life by Suzanne Fisher Woods is truly as sweet as it sounds. I highly recommend it.

Suzanne Woods Fisher lives with her family in the San Francisco Bay Area

Suzanne graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, and was a free-lancer writer for magazines while her children were growing up. A former contributing editor to Christian Parenting Today, Suzanne’s work has appeared in many magazines, including Today’s Christian Woman, Worldwide Challenge, and Marriage Partnership.

Her first novel, Copper Star, a World War II love story, was published by a small press (Vintage Inspirations) and received three literary awards. It opened the door to a literary agent, Joyce Hart. The agent knew of Suzanne’s connection to the Plain People—her grandfather was raised Plain—and introduced her to an editor at Revell, a division of Baker Books. Amish Peace: Simple Wisdom for a Complicated World was the result of that first conversation. It was an 2010 ECPA Book of the Year finalist…and it is the book Suzanne wants to be buried with.

And that was over thirty books and one million sold copies ago! So it seems things are working out pretty well.

Nora Goes off Script by Annabel Monaghan

Thanks for the gifted book, Putnam Books. Did I make my husband stand by our shed drinking coffee to make this book cover while strategically placing myself, a mug, and the book in the photo? Quite possibly. Did my whole family get involved placing items and taking the picture? Maybe. Did we have fun? Yes! Scroll to see a larger view of the cover.

❓QOTD: Do you have a place you like to go to read, craft, write or any special activity? I enjoy sitting on my back porch to read and be with family & friends. Nora has a Tea House in Nora God Off Script by @annabelmonaghan. The book publishes tomorrow Tuesday June 7. You do not want to miss this story

πŸ“š Review: Nora Goes off Script by Annabel Monaghan
is a funny and charming story. Nora is a thrifty independent woman who loves her two children and is working very hard to figure out her life after her husband left her. She writes romance scripts, and decides to cash in on her own life story. When her latest movie is being filmed at her house Leo, the main star, begs her to let him stay after filming for the next 7 days. She agrees.

I was enchanted by this delightful read. The great dialogue, funny everyday scenes and banter made me laugh out loud. The small town setting and Nora’s tea house were rather magical. I appreciated Nora’s neighbors, wonderful friend base, and her delightful and quirky family.

I loved Nora' s relationship with Leo, how she learned to love herself, and watching her become who she was supposed to be. This was the perfect read to start my summer. I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed reading with @lovearctually,and appreciate @bookswithnopictures for making it happen. Thank you Putnam Books for the gifted copy. I was not required to write a positive review

My debut adult novel, Nora Goes Off Script, is coming out on June 7, 2022 from G.P. Putnam’s Sons. Writing it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had. Pre-Nora, I wrote fiction for young adults and a column for not-so-young adults. Since you’ve gotten this far into my website, you probably knew that already.

I grew up in Los Angeles, and nearly every one of my relatives still lives in Southern California. I attended Duke University where I studied English. I have an MBA from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania and a brief history as an investment banker. I also used to teach novel writing at the The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College. I now live in the suburbs of New York City with my husband, three sons, and a little dog who
sheds.

Midnight's Budding Morrow by Carolyn Miller

❓QOTD:  Do you like flowers? πŸ’ I love flowers.  My daughter arranged these beautiful daisies.  We thought we were rather clever as the book is about a wallflower. 🌸

I am thrilled to be a part of the blog tour for Carolyn Miller's book Midnight's Budding Morrow by  Kregal Publishing.  Scroll down for my review and a link to a give-away.

About the series: While most stories set in Regency England focus on the rich, the young, and the beautiful, award-winning author Carolyn Miller decided she wanted to give readers something different for a change. Her new Regency Wallflowers series follows the commoners, away from the hustle and bustle of 1810s London, out in the Lake District of England. She tells the stories of women who are slightly older and have few prospects for marriage, women who might be considered “wallflowers.”
Midnight’s Budding Morrow is the second book in the Regency Wallflowers series. The first book in
the series is Dusk’s Darkest Shores.

Book Blurb: Can real love grow between a wallflower and an unrepentant rogue?

Sarah Drayton is eager to spend time with her best friend at her crumbling Northumberland castle estate. Matrimony is the last thing on her mind and the last thing she expects to be faced with on a holiday. Yet she finds herself being inveigled into a marriage of convenience with her friend's rakish brother.

When James Langley returns to his family's estate, he can't be bothered to pay attention to his responsibilities as the heir. War is raging and he wants only distraction, not serious tethers. But his roguish ways have backed him into a corner, and he has little choice but to obey his father's stunning decree: marry before returning to war, or else. Suddenly he finds himself wedded to a clever and capable woman he does not love.

Sarah craves love and a place to belong, neither of which James offered before returning to the battlefront. Now everyone around her thinks she married above her station, and they have no intention of rewarding her for such impertinence. It isn't until her husband returns from war seemingly changed that she begins to hope they may find real happiness. But can she trust that this rake has truly reformed?

When tragedy strikes, this pair must learn to trust God and his plans. Will they be destroyed . . . or will they discover that even in the darkest depths of night, the morning still holds hope?

My Review:  Midnight’s Budding Morrow by Carolyn Miller takes us to a crumbling castle in Yorkshire.  Sarah Drayton, who is described as a wallflower, has come to stay with her friend, Beatrice Langley.  Sarah ends up marrying her friend’s brother, James Langley, in a marriage of convenience.   James has drifted along causing trouble for many years and sees little hope for a future with Sarah, a woman he is not impressed with. As our story progresses we see that Sarah Drayton is a woman with a big heart and great skills and James is a man who desperately wants to change.

This was such an engrossing read.  I found myself highlighting the beautiful dialogue, cheering on Sarah and James, and not wanting this lovely story to end.  With a little bit of mystery and a delightful cast of secondary characters this gothic Regency romance weaves the themes of forgiveness, second chances, and finding your true worth into a beautifully written story.  A truly inspiring read.  Midnight’s Budding Morrow is an amazing read that I highly recommend.

Thank you to the publisher for the copy and Audra Jennings for including me on the Blog Tour.
