Pearl's Promise by Edwina Kiernan

I am a huge fan of Regency romance and was not disappointed by new to me author Edwina Kiernan’s Pearl’s Promise. It was simply a joy to read. I am so excited that I found the series, Gems of Grace.

The story follows our main character, Pearl, who is a kind soul who must follow her parents wishes and struggles with their life choices affecting her.  Nicholas, our hero, is a caring man who is trying to make his way in the world and find the correct guidance.  He wants to follow a path of compassion and kindness. Both characters are very likeable, believable, and engaging, and I fell in love with both of them. They have beautiful dialogue with each other and with their heavenly father in this story.

Pearl’s Promise is a sweet Regency romance with balls, afternoon teas, dancing ,a villain, and the rules of etiquette of the time. But, honestly the story is more than that. The author is able to weave the main character’s faith naturally into the story and portrays their heart’s struggles in a very believable way.  I am now a fan of Edwina Kiernan and look forward to reading the rest of the Gems of Grace series.

I was given the book by the author and not required to write a review.

Edwina Kiernan is a Christian writer, and author of the well-received novel, Ruby’s Redemption

An enthusiast of classic novels and history, Edwina combines her faith, imagination and research in hope-infused tales set in times past. Her latest novel is the second in the Inspirational Regency romance series, Gems of Grace

A lifelong word admirer, with Welsh and Irish heritage, she started writing stories early in childhood. She still loves to learn, taking courses from places like Oxford University and the Beau Monde, for both fun and further education.

When she’s not writing, Edwina loves spending time with her dashing husband and lively little son, reading and studying the Bible, getting lost in a captivating novel and drinking more types of tea than most people realize even exist. Visit her at her web site.
