Jilting Jory by K. Lyn Smith is the fourth book in The Something Wonderful series, and a stand alone novel. Jory and Anna fell in love many years ago, but Anna was not ready to commit. Jory has never left her heart and she is back in Cornwall to see how he is doing after she jilts another suitor.
It was a pleasure to watch this second chance romance play out, and see the growth in both characters. Jory is everything you want in a hero with his kind, easy and reflective manner. It took me a little while to understand Anna, but soon found myself rooting for her to find her happily ever after.
The story is engaging and unique, taking place in Cornwall. I enjoyed the different Regency feel of the story and found that refreshing. It was a pleasure to meet the secondary characters who were mostly cousins or relations of Jory. The cousins added humor and depth to the story and by the end I wished they were my cousins too.
There is something powerful about second chance stories that demonstrate that people can change. I loved the redemptive feel of Jilting Jory and the wonderful characters of Jory and Anna. I highly recommend it.
I was given a copy and not required to write a positive review.
K. Lyn Smith writes sweet historical romance with swoony heroes (and sometimes a pig or two). She lives in Birmingham, Alabama with her own swoony hero. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling and watching period dramas. And space documentaries. Weird, right?
