Dusk's Darkest Shore by Carolyn Miller

Dusk’s Darkest Shore is a pure Regency delight set in the Lake District in England.  Carolyn Miller gives you all the feels in this amazing love story. I was drawn in from the beginning and did not want the story to end.

I felt so connected to main characters Mary Bloomfield and Adam Edgerton.  Carolyn Miller writes beautiful and tender scenes between Mary and Adam as we follow their journey from acquaintances to two people who are deeply in love. Her secondary characters added to the story and I enjoyed watching their transformation.  She effortlessly weaves in God’s sovereignty and explores why every prayer is not answered in the story.

Dusk’s Darkest Shore is a delightfully written Regency story with authentic characters, some mystery, and a timeless love story.  Regency readers will love the attention to detail of the times and will be looking forward to the next two books in the series.  I highly recommend it.

I was given the book by the publisher and not required to write a review.

Hooked on You by Kathleen Fuller

You might want to have your sweet tea nearby as you read Hooked on You by Kathleen Fuller, a charming southern romance.  Riley, our heroine, comes back to Maple Springs, Arkansas from New York  to help her grandmother, Erma, with her knitting shop, Knots and Tangles   Erma and her friends bring wit and wisdom to Hooked on You, and some sweet laughter.

Hayden Price, our hero, was the Maple Spring’s star baseball player who is now back in town working at his Dad’s hardware store and coaching the softball team.  Both Hayden and Riley  have baggage and we watch them grow, change  and transform in the story.  I found them both delightfully flawed and endearing characters. They have a vision for changing and updating their town.  Together with their friends they give the town character.

I enjoyed my time in Maple Springs and look forward to visiting again .Kathleen Fuller has woven together an enjoyable read including themes of redemption and friendship with realistic characters in a charming small town setting.  I want to find out more about  the other characters of Maple Springs, and. I think you will too.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher and not required to write a positive.

Pearl's Promise by Edwina Kiernan

I am a huge fan of Regency romance and was not disappointed by new to me author Edwina Kiernan’s Pearl’s Promise. It was simply a joy to read. I am so excited that I found the series, Gems of Grace.

The story follows our main character, Pearl, who is a kind soul who must follow her parents wishes and struggles with their life choices affecting her.  Nicholas, our hero, is a caring man who is trying to make his way in the world and find the correct guidance.  He wants to follow a path of compassion and kindness. Both characters are very likeable, believable, and engaging, and I fell in love with both of them. They have beautiful dialogue with each other and with their heavenly father in this story.

Pearl’s Promise is a sweet Regency romance with balls, afternoon teas, dancing ,a villain, and the rules of etiquette of the time. But, honestly the story is more than that. The author is able to weave the main character’s faith naturally into the story and portrays their heart’s struggles in a very believable way.  I am now a fan of Edwina Kiernan and look forward to reading the rest of the Gems of Grace series.

I was given the book by the author and not required to write a review.

Blog Tour: Let It Be Me by Becky Wade Plus a Give-Away!

I am thrilled to be participating in the Let It Be Me Blog Tour!  Please scroll to the end of the post to see the other bloggers and for links to Becky Wade's Give-Away!

I just finished Let it Be Me by Becky Wade. WOW!  WOW! WOW!  Let it Be Me is an amazing story.  I appreciate that our heroine, Leah, is a math genius and sees the world in relation to math concepts. Sebastian, our hero, is a pediatric cardiac surgeon and fiercely devoted to saving lives.  They both come from challenging backgrounds, but they are learning not to let that hold them back from being who God created them to be.

Honestly, Let it Be Me has it all in my book.  It has romance, suspense, plot twists, humor, great kisses, fabulous dialogue, interesting characters, and a reminder of God’s sovereignty and goodness.  Becky Wade’s ability to craft an amazing story had me from the first page.  My biggest decision now is whether to reread it today or try to wait until next week.  Either way, this is a story I am glad I have in my library, and I would recommend you add it to yours.

I received a copy from the publisher/author and was not required to write a review.

Woven By Words

During her childhood in California, Becky frequently produced homemade plays starring her sisters, friends, and cousins.  These plays almost always featured a heroine, a prince, and a love story with a happy ending.  She’s been a fan of all things romantic ever since.
Becky and her husband lived overseas in the Caribbean and Australia before settling in Dallas, Texas.  It was during her years abroad that Becky’s passion for reading turned into a passion for writing.  She published three historical romances for the general market, put her career on hold for many years to care for her kids, and eventually returned to writing sheerly for the love of it.  She’s delighted to be penning warm, wry, and heartwarming contemporary romances for the Christian market.  She’s the Christy and Carol award winning author of My Stubborn Heart, the Porter Family series, the Bradford Sisters series, and the Misty River Romance series.
These days Becky can be found failing but trying to keep up with her housework, power-walking her neighborhood, carting her kids around town, hunched over her computer, eating chocolate, or collapsed on the sofa watching TV with her husband.

Winning the Gentleman by Kristi Ann Hunter

Winning the Gentleman by Kristi Ann Hunter is the second book in her Hearts on the Heath series, but is also a stand alone novel.  The story introduces our chatty heroine, Sophia Fitzroy, who is a circus performer turned horse jockey from Ireland, and Aaron Whitworth, our very complicated quiet hero who runs a horse stable.  Their interaction together is priceless. I smiled, reflected on God’s goodness,  and my heart was touched as I read their story.

The secondary characters brought depth to the novel in their interaction with the main characters.  I recognized many from other novels by Hunter.   After I finished reading I could not help but wonder when I will see them again, and if they will be in the third book in this series.

This story brought me joy!  Kristi Hunter magically weaves romance, humor, friendship and horsemanship into an amazing Regency story while gently reminding us that our God is a God who loves to redeem things.  This is a theme that I always need to remember.

I can highly recommend Winning the Gentleman by Kristi Ann Hunter.

I was given the book through the publisher and not required to write a positive review.

Kristi is the award winning author of Regency romance novels from a Christian worldview. Her books include the
Hawthorne House series, the Haven Manor series, and the recently published first stories of the Hearts on the Heath series. Beyond writing, she is also speaker, teaching classes in writing as well as Biblical and spiritual topics. She has spoken to writers' groups, schools, and young women's groups at churches.

When she is not writing or interacting with her readers, Kristi spends time with her family and her church. A graduate of Georgia Tech with a computer science degree, she can also be found fiddling with her computer in her free time. A born lover of stories she is also an avid reader. From very young she dreamed of sharing her own stories with others and praises God daily that she gets to live that dream today.

The Indebted Earl by Erica Vetsch

Like many others I have been waiting for Erica Vetsch’s third book in the Serendipity & Secrets series, The Indebted Earl.  I am pleased to say that my waiting was not in vain and the book is amazing!   The story of Lady Sophia Haverly and Captain Charles Malvern is all that a Regency novel should be.  They both meet under unusual circumstances  after the passing of Lady Haverly’s fiancé, Major Richardson.  Captain Malvern comes to pay his condolences and ends up taking Lady Haverly and her companion to Devon to his new estate where he is now an Earl.  The story is pure Regency with assemblies, romance, wonderful dialogue, a marriage of convenience, smuggling, a setting on the coast of England, and wards that appear out of nowhere.  Truly a delight!

Erica Vetsch is now one of my new go to authors  for a wonderful Regency read.  She has  all   I love in a Regency novel.  God’s sovereignty is discussed in a beautiful and meaningful way.   Truly an inspiring Regency read.  I recommend The Indebted Earl.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Best-selling, award-winning author Erica Vetsch loves Jesus, history, romance, and sports. When she’s not writing fiction, she’s planning her next trip to a history museum and cheering on her Kansas Jayhawks and New Zealand All Blacks. You can connect with her at her website, www.ericavetsch.com where you can read about her books and sign up for her newsletter, and you can find her online at https://www.facebook.com/EricaVetschAuthor/ where she spends way too much time!

Bookshop by the Sea by Denise Hunter

“Aiden tossed his head back, laughing with abandon.  He looked much the same, just a little less boy and a little more man.  His shoulders were broader, and he sported a five o’clock shadow. “

Aiden and Sophie were high school sweethearts whose relationship did not end well.  They both have baggage and issues which they carry with them.  They meet again at Sophie’s sister Jenna’s wedding in Bookshop by the Sea.  Through a hurricane, family issues, and the opening of a bookshop we discover the story of Sophie and Aiden’s second chance at a future together.

“His arms went around her, drawing her closer until his heart beat against hers. “

Denise Hunter is an expert storyteller, and the master of romance.   Bookshop by the Sea does not disappoint.   She creates excellent romantic tension with Sophie and Aiden’s story.  It was a pleasure to watch both characters learn to grow deeper in their faith, their own self-awareness, and mature into people we respect and love by the end of the book

I really enjoyed Bookshop by the Sea, and recommend it.

This book was given to me by the publisher and I was not required to write a positive review.

Denise Hunter is the internationally published bestselling author of more than 35 books, three of which have been adapted into Hallmark movies. When Denise isn't orchestrating love on the written page, she enjoys traveling with her family, playing drums, and reading as much as humanly possible. Denise makes her home in Indiana where she and her husband have raised three boys and are currently enjoying an empty nest.
